Shadow Of The Torturer is one of the best books of all time on this planet, amazing read.

Interesting. Not read the Gene Wolfe book (yet), but Neuromancer remains my favourite SF book to this day.

It's a great top 3, and 💯 on Shadow of the Torturer as a good candidate for best of all time. It's definitely in the top 5 I can't decide between for me.

The great thing about Wolfe is he provided a great book and then taught me how to read it.

I just finished Shadow and Claw and would liken it to Gullver's Travels with ultra technology.
It's a hard road that I did not want to end. Now I have to find Sword and Citadel. After one book Gene Wolfe is among my favorite authors.

I hate that neuromancer isn't getting more love among modern readers. I think many are impatient with prose and the all the new concepts. But it's soo good. Cool shadow of the torturer is actually next on my list of books to read.

I generally read James Herbert and Dean Koontz, not really sci fi writers as such but still great writers.

Sigh. I loved Neuromancer (read it in realtime), but it is hardly the first book to "predict" the Internet, much less hacking. Several by John Brunner and Frederick Pohl predate it by years. Also, hasn't held up that well if you're honest about it.
