Magic The Gathering: vs Austin #1| ProJared Plays!

Magic: The Gathering matches, starting with myself versus my best friend Austin (not PBG).

I am using a custom made Blue deck, and he is using a custom made Red/Blue deck!

Quick Rules thing: at 6:35 Scrapyard Mongrel shouldn't die because you can only use Quickling before damage is dealt or after. If you do it before damage, Scrapyard Mongrel is still considered blocked and if he didn't have trample, the attack would be negated, but he would also take no damage since Illusionary Angel isn't there for the damage step. Sorry if I sound nit picky as that is not my intention. I'm a certified Wizards Judge and am just trying to help players learn the game. Been a fan for a long time and am glad to see these kinds of videos :)

I'm loving this and I hope to see more from it. It will be interested to see how you and your friends improve over time as well as see what kind of decks end up being constructed (And possible parameters that will be imposed).

I also like that you show certain cards up close for those unfamiliar with them (Or somewhat hazy on their abilities).

*Sigh* this wants me to play mtg again. The gameplay is just so rich. Haven't played since around 2006, but there's always been shot warm glances towards the cupboard with my rare-album and multiple custom decks with flashy sleeves - each that I spend ages on. This game was so full of momentum variations even though they stuck to the old ways (the ones I know), so I kinda felt inspired to see how the newer generation is holding out. Man, this brings me back...

When you remove a creature from combat (after blocking has been chosen), any damage involving that creature is canceled. So, Ilusory Angel wouldn't have killed Austin's 5/3.

Unfortunately with the new rule set you cant block and the return a creature to your hand. It has to block the damage before having anything else done to it so that Illusory Angel would have been gone early on or you would have taken 5 and his creature doesnt die.
