Teaching -DGE or -GE Spelling Rule | How to Spell /J/ at the End of Words | UFLI Lessons 70, 71
Показать описание
Welcome to another fun and educational video on the Happy Heart Words channel! In this video, our beloved character Huggy the Happy Heart is on a mission to complete a sentence. He needs some spelling help, but don't worry! Sparkle the Spelling Star arrives to save the day!
Together, they explore the -DGE vs -GE, 1-1-1 spelling rule, making it easy and fun for young learners to understand and apply this important spelling concept. Learn alongside Huggy and Sparkle as they focus on spelling the words "huge" and "bridge."
When do we use -DGE and when do we use -GE? Sparkle explains the 1-1-1 rule and how we can use it to help us spell the /j/ sound at the end of a word. When a 1-syllable word has 1 short vowel sound and ends with the /j/ sound, the spelling pattern at the end of the word is -DGE. Otherwise, it will usually end with -GE.
This video is perfect for Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students who are learning spelling rules, and for older students in need of spelling review. Your young readers and writers will love learning with Huggy and Sparkle as they build confidence in their spelling skills.
The trigraph -DGE as the spelling pattern for a final /j/ sound is taught and reviewed in UFLI Lessons 70 and 71 , so if you are using the UFLI Foundations Program this video is the perfect teaching companion!
