Wait For It... PLONK! Japanese Bamboo Fountain Shishi-Odoshi

Trickle Trickle PLONK..Trickle Trickle PLONK.. the soothing sounds of a Bamboo Japanese water fountain in a traditional garden in Osaka. These are called Shishi-odoshi (鹿威し "deer-frightening" or "boar-frightening") and were originally used to scare away animals, these days they are more ornamental due to their predictable soothing sound.

The bamboo device is a Sozu. It is often referred to as Shishi Odoshi (sensu lato), which are devices used to frighten animals away from gardens and crops. The Sozu was designed to frighten away deer (Sika), though they quickly habituate to the sound.

The bamboo plants here are Moso Chiku (Phyllostachys edulis, native to China, and brought to Japan by the Satsuma clan.

Довелось мне видеть и слышать такое устройство , но на порядок совершеннее . Во - первых звука удара два и кроме того звуки получаются в разной тональности . И сам звук чётко подобраный и чистый . Красота, графичность и абрис устройства тоже имеют значение .... Нет предела совершенству ....
