THIS HAS BEEN EDITED FOR LIKE 2 MONTHS AND FORGOT TO UPLOAD IT WHOOPS

Thanks for the shoutout! Glad you liked the idea enough to give it a go, and managed to get it even lower!

Smant really went “it’s a surprise tool for later” at his diamond tools like he’s Mickey Mouse

3:43 as someone who hasn’t played Minecraft in years and just watched this video, I had to do a double take at that chest boat lol

The amount of creativity to avoid getting some of those advancements is actually amazing

Kind of insane to think that only 4 advancements are needed to beat the game, of which all 4 are gained when entering the 2 dimensions

I mean, the fun thing about the "fewest" type categories is that no matter how *long* it takes, so long as you perform or receive fewer of the named thing, you're still "ahead." So, doing it with 4 advancements versus 5 is always an improvement. Neat!

"Why does your resume have no degrees, transferable skills, or work experience to speak of?"

"I'm doing a no-advancement run."

In older versions (I think around 1.6 or 1.7) you can beat the game with just a single advancement: opening your inventory.

Advancements used to be prerequisites in a tree. You couldn't get later advancements until you got all the ones before it. The first three advancements were opening your inventory, acquiring wood, and building a crafting table, after which the tree branches out in a number of directions. However, if you grab all the wood you'll need before opening your inventory, and never obtain any more wood for the rest of the run, you never get any more advancements.

This technique was actually used in certain competitive modes like UHC, where getting advancements would reveal your progress to other teams.

After watching Banana & Bread do this, you were the one creator I was hoping would attempt it for yourself, glad to see it happened!

I just absolutely love the idea that achievements are just handed out like trash candy to the point where the challenge is to beat the game with the least amount of achievements.

I've always thought a really fun challenge would be to try and get as many advancements all at once, in a row, as possible. Like, the longest chain with only n seconds between getting the next advancement. It's like a minimum advancement run, but with extra interesting routing to what advancements you want to proc early to give access to more advancements to do during the chain
It's also fun as a concept because you get to see how the ingame chat gets completely spammed with the advancement get messages - very funny to imagine doing it on a server

Let’s beat the game while beating as little of the game as possible

I love how both Rhododo and Smallant thought of this at the same time and handled it completely differently.

397 minutes into less than 10. Wow, I do not envy the editing that challenge run Youtubers have to do.
