Hello
Today I have a special coin set I want to show to You
And it’s not these Latvian coins! :D
But these Latvian coins. Now in colors!
This is a special coin set with almost all Latvia’s 2 euro coins.
First off is regular 2 Euro coin from 2014. Although the year is painted over. The flag behind our national symbol Milda looks quite nice. Definitely an improvement.
Next is coin of Riga from 2014. Blue skies and blue river Daugava with sight of oldtown in between. I wonder why they have chosen to color over the writings, again. Takes away from the coin a bit. What do You think?
Next is presidency coin. At least for this coin all details are highlighted not painted over. The millstone look’s really nice on this coin.
First common EU coin Latvia was able to release was to commemorate 30 years of EU flag. I like how the people in front form the colors of Latvian flag. Although the whit guy seems poorly painted.
Stork coin looks spectacular. The chimney is a new addition to the colored version. I guess because very often they use chimneys for their nests.
Latvian brown peacefully eating grass in a meadow. It’s a shame that with every year this is a less and less common sight in countryside.
Here we can see the true colors of the coat of arms of Vidzeme, one of four regions of Latvia. I like how the background has some ethnic signs on them. This combination looks really nice.
Also, the true colors of Latgale. This is the region with most lakes in Latvia, hence the blue color on the coat of arms. The common element in Vidzeme and Latgale is the griffin holding the sword. They are only facing different directions.
Coat of arms of Kurzeme or Courland has red lion on silver shield. This symbol has stayed here from times when dukes ruled over these lands and is also a part of the coat of arms of Latvia.
Next coin is to celebrate 100 years anniversary of Baltic states – Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. All three countries released coin of this design. I can’t really understand what’s there on the background but the flag looks nice on the coin.
And the last region of Latvia – Zemgale is symbolized by silver moose on blue shield. This symbol comes from the same duke family (von Kettler) as the red lion for Kurzeme.
And yet another symbol of Latvian heraldry is the rising sun which is the symbol of newly founded country Latvia and is the center piece of Latvias coat of arm. I think the clouds in this image are too much. What do You think?
Next is Latgalian ceramics with the most common Latvian candelabrum on it. The background depicts also some commonly seen decoration patterns on Latvian pottery. The design looks quite decent, I think.
And the last of the colored coins in the set is for the de iure coin. Simple colors and from the looks of it seem as leaves of ok behind the lettering. Looks quite nice.
That’s all regarding the colored coins. Here is a little comparison between colored and uncolored versions.
I’m wondering when this year’s colored coin versions will be released as they are still missing from this set.
I’m also considering making a coin holder for these coins because they should be displayed with style. Aren’t they?!
But that’s it for this video.
Hope You liked it, I sure did like checking out the coins under some magnification.
If You like the coin holders I make, please, consider checking out my Etsy shop. Also You can suggest what coin holders You want to see in the future.
