"Doctors use it" 😂😂 ill be damned if I ever see a doc putting in an IV that's not a central line.

I’ve used one of these in class they are actually really cool. If you have a really good artery you can see it moving with it

Not a doctor here but saw a bit during nursing school. Now I'm just a caregiver.
Never seen this. There are also people who have weak veins that burst easily, resulting in hematomas.
Some medicine is also aggressive towards the surrounding tissue, also causing breakge.

Usually when the, ,butterfly" draws blood, you know you hit the vein but you could also just about hit the vein or go too far and the slightest movement could get it out of place, causing the iv to go to the surrounding tissue instead, named (para in short or paravasat) causing a burning sensation or and an egg builds up. Some people have different terms but its usually with, ,Nacl" because of the volume. It's used to run like that if you didn't take enough or cant' take fluids for whatever reason. You can also prepare other meds with it and run together, which just helps transport it.

Those catheters also clog up, which is why you flush them regularily with nacl in a small syringe. If actually blocked, you pull it out instead of pushing it in. The blockage is hard to break down and could become an embolism, which tends to end in the lungs, which is fatal enough to prevent it as much as possible.

Usually if it is blocked to oblivion, you just get rid of that needle.

Then there is the central vanous catheter, which follows the usual rules but is inserted from above the collarbone into the upper large vein, just before the heart. It is used for long term and if other meds need to be given at the same time. I myself never wanted to pull it out because I was too scared lol.

I love hospital work but i prefer the physical work as a caregiver. I do miss the hospital but it's hard for me to keep things in my head so i prefer the physical work.
I do have to say i wish i could do more like study to become a doctor or work in a different medical field but i just don't have the brain for it.

Take care.

Im a nurse and I can tell you 2 things...
1st, doctors doesn't penetrate nothing, nurses do it (and if I can't find your vein one of my partners in nursing will help me).
2nd Noone has this device, the veins (even the trickiest of them all) are find touching and knowing the diference in elasticity of veins, arteries and nerves.

I like in the first few seconds they just randomly penetrate the needle wherever they think is the right place lmao 😭

Another way they can do this is by kinda like pressuring parts of your arm or wrist to make the veins “pop out” more, They did that when I needed a IV for an dental surgery 🦷

EVERY MEDICAL PLACE NEEDS THIS. One time I had a nurse miss 4 times before she said she was going to get the head nurse to try. I already hate needles to begin with. I understand it isn’t easy because my veins are small but still come on already.

No one uses this device but I wish they would. Being scared of needles and having hard to find veins is a nightmare
