4th year student and man I love these videos! So much practical clinical information for the ED and even family med clinic. Keep em coming.

When I was a kid, my Dad was the doctor...lol! He would have gone for the wire cutters first thing while lecturing me on the importance of not putting washers on my finger! Actually it wasn't a washer but rather a grommet! I thought it was pretty! :)

He did great! As a mother of three boys, my spidey sense tells me that this little fella isn’t done with manipulating small objects into unfortunate places.

My husband would have a bunch of tools at home to solve the problem right away 😂
Good to see the little patient is well! 😁

What a great little bot. He wanted to see what was going on and he handle the pain beautifully. That's gonna be one terrific man.

The ER is overkill for this issue imo. I would have gone to the garage or tool kit in my truck and gotten some snips and lubricant and this would have been over on a few minutes. Parents need stay calm and then adapt, improvise, and overcome.

My mom would have ripped it off and told me go outside and play.

My mom would have gotten oil and slid that thing off even if my bone snapped just to avoid going to the hospital and paying “unnecessary” medical bills

What a brave little boy. I don't know if I would have handled it that easily. The mother was pretty calm, too.

Brave little guy. When our son was two, he chewed up an eraser, and shoved all the little pieces into his ears. It took four adults to hold him down to get it out. Not a fun day.

Why wasn't cutting it the first option?

Thank you Dr. Mellick for these awesome videos. I'm a pediatric nurse practitioner and have taken away so much from your content. All the best!

This happened to me as a child, but the fire department was able to do it ASAP lol

Those digital blocks are painful. That boy did a wonderful job. Gotta love Irwin tools. Cut through plastic. Saw through metal.

Found this channel, get videos and explaining. Is this the same physician who worked Med Center ED late 80's early 90's ??

How awesome to see you do the procedure, Dr Mellick! I have a very similar sense of humor and would have asked to keep that for the baby book! I still have the various coins adding up to $0.57 that both my boys swallowed as toddlers. Hey, if I have to <ahem> "find it"...I'm KEEPING it! hahahaha

Did it really take a visit to the ER to figure out that you need to use a $6 cutters from harbor freight to cut a piece of plastic off of The kids finger? 🤦🏻 People these days
