Andy Bartosh - 'DONNA LEE' (Charlie Parker or Miles Davis, who knows)

Donna Lee
This is a Charlie Parker theme based on the old song "Indiana". I play it here again over a playback by Phil Wilkinson.
The difficulty with Donna Lee lies on the one hand in the tempo, but also in the fact that the theme is already on such a high melodic level that it is not easy to top this melodic finesse in your own improvisation.
That's why I think it makes sense to learn "Indiana" and improvise on it first. It's much easier to improvise on the basis of this rather simple melody, even though it's the same changes. In any case, it's never a mistake to deal with the respective roots. In the theme of "Donna Lee" you can find several great melodic ideas for your own improvisations. Parker was a real genius.

I usually listen to these types of videos for a few minutes, until I get really lost....at about 0:45 ( or 15+ seconds into your improvisation), I was lost....but enjoying your playing so much my frustration was short-lived and I made it thru to the end! Enjoyed your playing, sir, thank you! I first learned to play this in 1977, for historical interest only.
