CFA and FMVA are complement to each other. Cfa gives theoretical knowledge and FMVA gives practical knowledge and more conceptual clarity of terms.

To reiterate other commenters, the CFA is actually brutal, more costly to finish and is 3 years part time to complete. I think it would be good to do FMVA and then work towards a CPA, CFA or something on par. The FMVA at the very least provides evidence you can study, are reasonably intelligent and you're capable of further accreditation.
