At 43:00 talking about how postgres does code specialization when it comes to comparing types, why do you say it's a "hack" ?
what's hackish about it ? it's a perfectly valid way of achieving this specialization (btw x100 db kernel also does that in similar manner although not with perl but another preprocessing tool).
It's code duplication but with a benefit :)
