Landon & Charity Anderson 2020 National Cabaret

Now two-time National Cabaret champions Charity Anderson and brother Landon Anderson perform cabaret to "Eight" by Sleeping At Last at The 2020 National Amateur Dancesport Championships in Provo, Utah. They received 1st place in this event, originally scheduled for Saturday March 14, which was one of the only events capable of being rescheduled to Thursday March 12, the same day as the nationwide quarantine due to COVID-19. Grateful for the opportunity to still compete, they performed a 4 minute lift routine, just 1 hour after Landon and his wife Hannah finished 4 rounds of 4 dances each in the Adult Amateur Smooth event. In light of the circumstances they gave it their all.

They never seem to have much luck with their wardrobe do they? Last year his belt broke, this year that dress kept getting into places it shouldn't.

But they did great. I loved it. Well done.

From a seamstress perspective, it's not the length of the dress that is problematic, but the fabric used. It seems to be a 4 way stretch gold "lamé", and as the name implies, it stretches in width and height, so when she's dancing, the fabric is elongated by the inertia before retracting, catching in the heels of her shoes when other fabrics would have just slide on them...
But she's overcome that difficulty with her talent, so congratulations!

Do they not do dress rehearsals? I feel so bad that the dress got in her way multiple times :( and it seemed like Landon dropped her in the end or the lift didn't go as planned. Despite it, every single moment was beautiful, they are so talented. FYI: Even though the dress was such a pain, it created beautiful circles around her when she danced. I loved the effect.

I want the world to understand that she is changing dance. It's incredible to watch. Yes the dress needed some tailoring but you can she what they were aiming for and she reached it often, dress and all. I'd love to see her with a dance partner who meets her physically and emotionally on stage/in performance. Wow.

This dress is a disaster. It doesn't look good and keeps getting in their way constantly. But they both handled it with so much grace! I love how he removes it from his head around 0:46 the way he holds his fingers and moves to me music is splendid. Also she doesn't bat an eye when it gets caught in her heels.
