2010 BCS National Championship - Alabama Crimson Tide (1#) vs Texas Longhorns (2#)

After completing an undefeated regular season by besting their division rivals LSU and Mississippi State. Then defeating their most bitter rival Auburn in a highly contentious Iron Bowl. And dominating the seemingly invincible Florida Gators with their Heisman Trophy winning quarterback. The Alabama Crimson Tide certainly earned their spot in the BCS National Championship at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California where they faced off against the Texas Longhorns. The game started out good but things took a shocking turn when a big hit knocked Texas quarterback Colt McCoy out of the game for good. Alabama went on to easily claim a National Championship and complete Alabama's re-emergence as the premier college football program in the land.

Texas was very talented and gritty. Alabama just wore them down with stout defense and a very strong running game. Props to Texas. That team was littered with talent. Congrats to Alabama on what was the beginning of their 2nd dynasty period in my opinion and several more national championship teams to come. Not an Alabama fan but I can definitely respect their dominance over many years.

Nick Saban's comments at halftime show what a classy guy he is.
Saban never gloats....Saban seems to always show respect for an opposing team.

WWATCHING THIS GAME 12 YEARS LATER, I COULD SEE THAT TEXAS WAS MATCHING UP POUND FOR POUND, UNTIL COLT MCCOY WENT OUT AND THEN THEY STARTED TO LOOK LOST.

I remember watching this game on pins and needles as Texas' offense began to start clicking in the second half. I think the Alabama team was emotionally exhausted by the rematch with Florida the previous game. And whoever would have thought that Saban could have signed such quality quarterbacks in years to come. I was used to quarterback game managers like McElroy.

Bama fan and I can't lie, I was like Colts absence definitely altered the game, I think we would've won but not in the fashion that we did

Mack Brown teams never gave up. Say what you want about him, his teams always played hard for him. And he could easily be sitting here with 2 or 3 rings and 3 Heisman winners when he was at Texas. Simply just had some bad luck. He was a great recruiter obviously. He had recruiting on lock for 15 years. And he was great about surrounding himself with great assistants and delegating responsibilities. I remember seeing him and Saban up at the podium talking pictures together. I was thinking 2 legends right there

I always wondered if Colt got hurt or if he wanted to save his draft stock? It didn't look like a shoulder injury but I wasn't getting hit by 2x pro bowlers either

I don't care who you got at QB, Ingram and Richardson had 300 combined rush yds with 2 TDs each. That's just hard to beat.

This injury changed the trajectory of Texas football for the next decade and maybe even college football as a whole

I was there on the Alabama side in the corner of the endzone. It did not look good early but things worked out. When leaving the game I saw Coach Saban leaving in a golf cart and he still look pissed from the Gatorade bath. Mark Ingram came by in another car and he was far more happy. Another memory from the game, Flea from the Chili Peppers playing bass for the anthem. So odd. The next day we drove over to Vegas and at a rest stop half way there we met a man that would become infamous a year later for killing some trees in Auburn. What a trip.
