Jacksonville Jaguars: The Pressure Is On Press Taylor And The OL

preview_player
Показать описание
Jacksonville Jaguars Offensive Coordinator Press Taylor is the most scrutinized staff member of the teams staff, coaching and operations combined. And that will continue if the team struggles to get beyond 9 wins. But, hearing him explain concepts and how much time is put in behind the scene makes you believe he will be just fine. Any ill feelings might be misplaced due to talent concerns by some. We look at that and ask if there are missing parts to this Jaguars team as we get into week 2 of pre-season games.

As long as they get BTJ involved it will force defenses to have to gameplan and call plays that address him as a deep threat. He doesn’t need 15 targets but 6-8 targets will open up space for Kirk and Engram on underneath routes but also help the line and run game by stopping the defense from stacking the box and playing aggressive underneath coverage. I used to blame Press but I realized we were missing a key piece on offense, a legit deep threat.

The offense was NOTICEABLY different in 2023 vs 2nd half of 2022...last year we were WAY more sideways than down the field...it was a noticeable difference.

I agree. OL has to be a priority in the draft. I know we have Cooper Hodges as an option, but he can't seem to stay healthy.

Ultimately, We can't have a repeat of last season shuffling guys up and down the line again. I would also say, why isn't anyone mentioning OL coach Phil Rousher as potentially an issue? Its his job to get those guys ready each week. He bares some responsibility too imho.

Very valuable point. Fans always look at WRs and QBs, but none of that matters if the OL can't provide adequate protection AND (key point) do the run blocking, so your offense isn't one-dimensional.

Before the draft I’ve been saying the offensive line was the biggest issue. Most jags fans including Tony said it was WR or corner.
