#MalcolmX, born #MalcolmLittle, was a transformative #AfricanAmerican leader and advocate for #Black empowerment and #civilrights.
Born in Omaha, #Nebraska, he faced intense racial discrimination from an early age, losing his father under suspicious circumstances linked to white supremacist threats.
This loss and a troubled youth led him to a life of crime, leading to his imprisonment in 1946. During his incarceration, he educated himself extensively and joined the #NationofIslam, rejecting "Little" as a “slave name” and adopting "X" to symbolize his lost African heritage.
After his release in 1952, #MalcolmX quickly became a prominent voice for Nation of Islam, advocating for Black independence, #pride, and self-reliance.
His powerful speeches resonated with those disillusioned by racial inequality and injustice.
Unlike other civil rights leaders who advocated nonviolent resistance, Malcolm often emphasized self-defense and was vocal about the need for Black Americans to achieve justice "by any means necessary."

In 1964, a #pilgrimage to Mecca transformed his perspective. Witnessing racial unity among #Muslims from all backgrounds led him to adopt a more inclusive stance, and he left the Nation of Islam to form the Organization of Afro-American Unity.

But his voice made many uncomfortable in a changing America, leading to his assassination on February 21, 1965, in New York City.

Malcom X’s influence endures. His life continues to inspire movements for equality and justice worldwide, making him a lasting symbol of resilience, transformation, and the fight for human dignity.
