In this video, Nick goes over the process of drilling and tapping a Gen 4 LS block to accept the knock sensor from a Gen 3 harness. It's a simple process, but it's an important one to cover when making this swap.

I'm putting a gen 4 6.2 in my 4.8 van. More of these videos would be extremely helpful

If you can do a video on cam sensor swap that'd be great if there was a way to relocate it to the back like a gen 3

Thanks for the video. This appears to be the aluminum block. Will that tap method work just as well on cast Iron?

I've seen a video of a guy on a silverado putting his knock sensors on the front side of the heads too. Wondering if its a good or bad idea.

It makes a LOT more sense to me to change the threads on the sensor (as I did with my LY6 installation into my 2000 Silverado) since knock sensors are much cheaper to replace if you screw up compared to a block. Plus, the gen IV sensors will still fit if your tuner can work with them. And, it's much easier to change the threads on the sensor at your bench than changing threads in the block while it's in the vehicle with all of the potential obstacles. It just makes more sense all the way around, IMHO.

Hello.., I had a ls3 on my 2008 corvette, I'm going with a 5.3 ls, but my ls3 has 2 knock sensors just like you were talking about, my problem is use the same knock sensors but I put one right on the block between oil pan and block, , you know on the little metal block squares, , on one side, but the passenger side doesn't have those little squares, I end putting it on the leap of the block, between oil pan and block, do you think this not gonna work..? Thx, oh I am still working on engine not on car yet, , thx again, ,

I have been wondering what it takes to put a gen 3 in place of a gen 4? Swapping a gen 3 6.0 into a gen 4 4.8 truck. Main concern is it having a 24x reluctor.

What about harness options? Since they are not in valley anymore

Since your on the topic of knock sensor would you also have to change the crank from a 24X to a 58X or can you change the disk from a 58X to 24X reluctor wheel?
