Totally avoidable. Why don’t people use their brain when driving, especially with kids in the car. You see the crossing gates are lowered. Shouldn’t that tell you that a train is coming, and to wait until the gates go back up? Why would you do something like this when you have kids in the car as well? Here’s some advice. When driving with kids in the car, make the wisest decisions you can possibly make. Set a good example for your children. Most importantly, be patient

Why do people feel the need to race a train across an intersection or go around the gate, I still don't understand that and I've been coming then that and I've been coming to Chicago for 8 months now.

trains should go under or over roads not intersect with them. THAT'S CRAZY
