If you still haven’t booked your summer vacation, you might want to check out this great government-sponsored volunteer position in the historic town of Garnet, Montana.

There’s free room and board, as well as a stipend for meals. When you’re not giving a guided tour or working in the souvenir shop, you’re free to explore the majestic Montana wilderness. So, what are you waiting for?

While this may all sound fine and dandy, there’s just one totally minor catch you’re going to want to be aware of—and it’s not the lack of running water or WiFi…

Of course they pay you to "stay there" ... running a gift shop and giving tours is what's known as "a job".

Free room & board, money for food, ghost neighbors & all I have to do is run the gift shop & give guided tours? How do I sign up?

I used to work at a nursing home, and one time there was a lady who had been a singer all her life. She would sing sometimes, she sang on the night she passed away, but after she passed, we all could still hear her singing in that room sometimes, even months later.

I will move here tomorrow. My kids, husband and I would do this in a second! Haunted town in the middle of the woods AND I get to do guided tours and tell people stories? Um, yes please! How do we apply to do this?

In life you have to be afraid of the living, not the dead.

Growing up in Montana, Garnet was definitely a go to trip for my family and I. Just a little under an hour drive and we could explore, pick huckleberries, and do scavenger hunts the gift shop gave us. Not so much paranormal, but rather a cool part of history

How much money are we talking here because I might just stay there.

A paranormal investigator should stay there and document everything.

I would love to go!! Too bad so many people who said they would go commented 1-5 years ago. Was thinking we should all go!! What a fun experience it could be.

I was close to Garnet and after doing a little exploring I can say that the area definitely brought me back in time.

It's a lie. I just researched it. It is volunteer only. They can't afford to pay anyone. It's summer time only.

I've been there and having lived in Montana for over 50 years, I can honestly say, "STAY AWAY FROM GARNET!!" The energies that are there are very real and they DO NOT like outsiders!

This is somewhat true. It's on a volunteer basis. Usually from August to September with September the busiest month as it's a great place for school field trips.

The winters are horrifically fierce. You decide to move up in them woods you best be prepared.
The grizzly bears and wolves added to the equation. Most like come spring they'll have recovery come clean up your clothes and whatever else is left.

they forgot to mention the long cold harsh winters and the possibility of becoming the next ufo experiment.
