Although unintended I like the split tail tips on the fox

It's incredible to see how far FDM has come, BUT here's the thing. You can adjust the layer height to .001mm on some stock resin machines. So the winner for detail is still resin. Having said that, the current price points allow pretty much anyone to get BOTH types of machines.

I am currently using only a resin printer and I have not used fdm yet. It was very helpful. Thank you. :)

The "Tail Separation" you see in the MP Mini SLA is an issue that was corrected in the latest firmware. I have heard some people describe it as "Frame Shearing" which I am told is common to early firmware revisions of every LCD resin printer on the market. You should mention that this issue was resolved.

I print with a .2 nozzle at .08 layer height on an ender 3 (you could even go .04 if you wanted). The .2 nozzle is a massive improvement. Also, I don't know why he printed these so slow, you can print a medium D&D creature mini with a .2 nozzle at .08 layer height in 3 hours. This guy has a lot of tuning to do with FDM printers. Also, a huge advantage with printing with a .2 nozzle is the supports break right off with very little effort leaving no visible marks on the print. Buying extra nozzles is like $5, so don't get hung up on stock nozzles.

I have been printing @0.08 mm for around 6 months on all my models and I am impressed too

Hi! Maybe I’m just blind, but where did you put the link to that .08 layer height profile for the Ender 3? Thanks! Great vid.

Try 0.025 mm on the mars :) just make sure your resin supports it

I'd be interested to hear about failure rates on both devices.

A good quality printer that prints medium quality prints reliably is better for me than a really high quality model that fails after 8 hours .

thing about the resin printers.. It takes the same amount of time to print as many minis as you can fit on the bed as it does to print one. I have printed as may as 5 at a time.

Perfect timing for this video. Been using the Mars for a couple of weeks and decided to buy an Ender 3 Pro to replace it bec well resin is gross. It’s arriving today! This made me feel great

Now I really wanna try to get that level of detail on my FDM printers!

I love the quality of the details with the resin prints, thinking of getting me one of those as I'm probably only ever going to print minis with it.

It definitely works very well. I've printed numerous miniatures at 0.08mm with my Ender 3 Pro's stock nozzle. It was videos about printing minis, using settings like these, that convinced me to buy a pair of Ender 3 Pros in the first place.

I'm looking at the Mars to print very small pieces for dioramas. I really appreciate the breakdown and comparison!

This is a great comparison, but one of the main reasons I'm thinking of jumping from Ender to Elegoo is the supports. Try printing some tiny, tiny miniatures from Heroforge with little swords, flames, spell effects, bows and arrows, limbs in custom poses etc, that's when you get to the really hard stuff. Models designed specifically to be easy to 3D print are a million miles away

Just picked up an Ender 3pro and the thing is amazing. The only upgrade I would suggest to make it the perfect FMD printer is to pick up a glass build plate to replace the magnetic one that is included.

Really cool results, FDM doesn't really lose to resin in this comparison. Maybe time to revisit this test now after three years?

Great comparison video.
(but I believe your last video was 0.2 layer height, not 0.1, that's why everyone was a bit more critical about the comparisons)

I've done 0.04mm layer heights with my Ender 3 and some things actually do gain detail (a screw for example) but layers get rough to the touch and errors get accentuated
