So if I made $20k from selling stocks this year, is that taxed separately from total income earned for the year from a job? So let's say my gross was $60k from my job income and I paid my tax bracket after all the deductions which was around $40k after deductions. Would that $20k get added on to that $40k and I have to pay taxes based on $60k? Or is that $20k separate since its not considered income and only capital gains.
