Versus #12 - Star Wars Revoltech C3PO vs Bandai Model Kit C3PO

Hasbro still hasn't released a Star Wars The Black Series C3PO but that doesn't mean your 6" figure display needs to be Threepio-less.

On this episode of Versus we put 2 of the 6" options available against each other. It's a battle with Revoltechs Star Wars C3PO in 1 corner and Bandai Model Kit C3PO in the other corner.

I went with the Bandai myself, it also includes an eye hanging out like in RotJ and to lose that "dead" look in his eyes, put the decals on the outside of the eye lenses. they say put them behind but as you can see in the video, that's pointless because you can't see them at all. and you can give one of those spare arms a coat of red for the Force Awakens option, I did that with the fixed arm since it made more sense for the replaced arm to possibly have limited range of motion, but considering Threepio's in TFA for maybe 5 total minutes of screen time and has a gold arm again at the end, it's somewhat pointless unless you just like the look. The only advantage I saw with revoltech was the greater posability, but that was also it's curse as you have no need for a running threepio, and like he pointed out, they lose a lot of screen accuracy to make it posable in ways it shouldn't be anyways. Also something not touched on in the video, the revoltech is larger than 1/12 scale, the droid is taller than anakin where Threepio was actually just a hair taller than luke, and that matches with black series 1/12 perfectly, but revoltech is noticably larger than Bandai's version. Bandai's Artoo is also more accurate in scale than the Black series version. (And Artoo and BB-8 is a good kit to get because even if you already have an artoo, a coat of paint and it's a different astromech)

Great video! I think I have to side with the Bandai kit. Likeness is better and I really like the chrome gold paint, makes it look much more accurate to Threepio in the movie.

Awesome video! The model kit definitely seems nicer to me, it's really impressive to me that they included the amount of display options that they did for what seems like such a basic character design. That chrome finish is georgeous as well!I'm looking foward to the Black Series, if it's good it'll be a nice cheaper alternative and if it's bad it'll be a good laugh.Also I agree with your point on the Mike Hamilton likeness's

I've been very unsure if I should get the 3PO Kit, I heard about it needing paint in some areas to really look good. Did you paint yours at all? Cuz if not HOT DAMN I'M SOLD.

The Bandai kits are great. I have a review of the Biker Scout and speeder bike coming up in a few weeks. It's another great kit.

My deciding factor would be which one fits better in scale with the 6 in black series, but it may be a mute point if/when hasbro gives us their version.
