One of the best race finishes we've seen!

How about this? Eight horses all finish within a length of each other in a freakishly competitive end to a race at Wolves on Boxing Day!

After 51 years watching Horse Racing I cannot remember a fantastic finish as this.

I have been a racing fan since 1973 and never saw a finish like that, you see dead heats often but that was off the charts.

I’ve seen 2 or 3 horses finish in a draw at the finish line in what is known in Horse racing as a “dead heat”, but this wasn’t close to just being a dead heat, this was almost an entire dead fleet!! A hot fleet! A dead hot fleet of photo finish pictures! It must have taken the stewards an hour to go through all the pictures to get the full order of finish correct and accurate. Literally a head away from victory or 8th place defeat. You don’t see this happen very often, if it’s ever happened before. Whenever I do see 4 or 5 horses in a photo like
this the race is a grass/turf surface. The Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot comes to mind as a race that tends to consistently have multiple horses in close finishes.

I worked in the industry for 15 years and saw most of the UK races at that time. Honestly can't remember one like that.

I have seen a triple dead heat for the win, but I have never seen eight horses within a length of one another at the wire.

The purple and white second off the rails would have won by a length if he had been able to get a run early - twice it got squeezed out of a passage through then finally got a run and ran done the field from a long way back.
