The reason I like this channel more than the other gardening channels is he isn't just showing off his plants, he also admits his past mistakes & shares them with us so we don't make the same mistakes. God Bless from Tennessee 🇺🇸

I like the concept of phenomenological timing also. Here’s some I discovered during winter research: When crocus bloom, plant spinach. When forsythia bloom, plant lettuce and peas. When daffodils bloom, plant beets and chard. There are many more; I used these this spring and found them reliable!

I love your passion! The way you almost lose it with excitement talking about Tuck or something in the garden is awesome. We’re in Louisiana here and working on converting a wooded area to a BTE style garden/food forest. Obviously there is a good difference between the climates in Jersey and Louisiana so the phenomena timing trick and stuff like that are very helpful to me. Love your videos, love Tuck and pumped to get my own food forest going. Your videos help when I start feeling stuck or overwhelmed, thanks for what you’re doing!

Your enthusiasm is just the best, I learn so much from your videos - even the struggles! Also, the doggo just eating/wandering/napping in the garden is the absolute best.

I've been using shade cloth like this for years. One thing I've found is that if you live in an area with high humidity like I do, you'll want to remove the shade cloth for an hour or 2 a day because it'll trap humidity under it and cause blight. Shade cloth works best when you have an air gap between it and whatever you are covering. When I see someone pull shade cloth over a greenhouse and it lays right on top of the plastic, I always cringe because they are probably unaware that just creating a small air gap between the cloth and plastic on greenhouse makes a huge difference in temperature. Not that it doesn't work the other way, but you get better temp reduction with an air gap.

I never thought much about phenomenological planting, but I do remember seed packets saying it was ok to plant outside when the maples trees leaf out. I think I will start to give a little more attention to those indicators. Love Tuck. Thanks James, from west central New York.

“ I hope you get something out of it…“ I ALWAYS get something out of your videos, James! I have learned a lot from you. I am in the same USDA zone as you, even though I am completely on the other side of the continent. I also really appreciate your enthusiasm! And, Tuck!

So this shade cloth reduces the exposure from the sun and helps protect....( as tuck smashes through the young seedlings on top of raised bed and under shade cloth) 😆 🤣 😂 2:10. I love it James and thank you TUCK for your since of humor!!

This winter, my project is going to be to build hoop house bones over all my raised beds. I’m exhausted trying to fight bugs here on the NC coast, and the sun is too powerful. Covers make so much more sense. Frost protection, but protection, sun protection...you can’t beat it.
