I don’t know why the government had to strangle the diesel engine so much. A small diesel engine in something like this would get great gas mileage and pull like a tractor

Putting more force over a smaller mechanical footprint will lower its life span

It’s not a tow vehicle, it’s a gas saving truck that does light work.

I towed a 7, 300lb trailer up to big sky ski resort and back down with my 18 canyon with the 2.8l lwn duramax. Only things that concerned me was downhill braking…

Yep they don't know how to do cylinder Deactivation reliably at all.

As a gm tech I can confidently say the l3b is more reliable than any gas v8 gm makes

So a 4 banger pick up the size of a regular pickup. Lovely 🙄

Also ironic because this engine does have cylinder deactivation lol

What's crazy to me is that this 4 cylinder engine has a bigger cylinder displacement than the 5.3 v8 and all of ford's v6s in current production

I refuse to buy anything with cylinder deactivation. Got last year of the V6 Tacoma so I’m good for awhile.

The cylinder deactivation in my ram 2500 6.4 work truck makes a 10k engine sound broken. I hit the tow haul button to turn it off!

Most people who buy these trucks aren't gonna pull anything heavier than a U-Haul small trailer to pick up some furniture they bought from marketplace

Here I’m happy with my 2.8 hilux diesel good mileage. Reliable and strong

I have the 24’ base model as a fleet vehicle. I’ve had it for 8 months or so and have put 25, 000 miles on it mostly from driving on 476. I think oil changes should be done every 8, 000 miles and you should check oil levels frequently as it does consume oil

They should develop that 4200 I6 into a turbocharged truck engine for the Colorado and service full size trucks

Why not bring back the 5 cylinder Colorado?

This tubro 4 cylinder also has cylinder shut down, as for being in constant boost. What do you think diesels do? Before you say a diesel is built stronger. This gas 2.7L is built just like a diesel.

There should be no issues with it towing around 3500kg. In the UK the majority of people towing that sort of weight use Land Rover Discoveries, Ford Rangers, Iveco Daily's etc, which only have between 2 and 3 litre capacity diesel engines. Its even common to see 20+ year old Land Rovers, Isuzu's etc hauling that sort of weight.

I don’t know why they didn’t just keep cylinder deactivation but just have a toggle to turn it on and off if you care about a thing like that. People that buy trucks most likely want V8s and V6s

I’m not an encyclopedia but I’m pretty sure cylinder deactivation has been in the Hemi 15 years at this point.
