Anyone of the conquering blood would do well among the Kvadaroz, the great shield breaker himself, her father, had told her and she meant to outdo him. Where he had gone west and won a kingdom, she would win more. Where he had moved with guile and great courage, she would move like a thundering storm. She stood with her father's hird by her fourteenth summer, she had battled and raided since. Now her father rides a sovereign to the Ting, to rouse the Wandering Tribes to war once more. And she rides at his side, a brazen banner bearer for the cause.
