Great Video!! I have tried to do the install myself a couple times and have unfortunately destroyed two N64 motherboards. Not recommended for a beginner definately!! Now I'm waiting for my newly ordered Flex cable replacement from Game-Tech US and new N64 console, but this time around I'm sending my console and kit to you guys at Retro Sales for the professional installation service!!!.

I always watch these videos knowing full well I'll never be able to do it myself. Well done!

When playing Donkey Kong 64 on a 16:9 screen, go into the game's settings, and switch the game to 16:9 mode. Go into your monitor settings and set your monitor to "Anamorphic Widescreen", and BOOM. Some Nintendo 64 games are naturally 16:9, Banjo-Tooie is another prime example.

Great vid as always man! I just recently did my first n64 HDMI mod. It went off without a hitch. I do have to say, that my purchase of a microscope earlier in the year has paid for itself for mods like this. I find it makes doing this type of solder work A LOT easier. Also, by using the 30x i can get in nice and close to make sure that all my joints are solid and have no bridges.

If I hadn't already watched Jason at Game-tech do his mod of this, I would have used yours as a tutorial for sure. Hey, your method for the famicom AV mod is what i use everytime.

Keep up the great work bro!

PS - if anyone is curious, I use an Amscope SW-3B13 stereo boom arm microscope for my work. with a 10x for solder work and a 30x for checking. It's not cheap, but if you do mods all the time, I recommend it for sure

ive done this install, that delay when you turn it on for the first time is nerve racking.

bit of a tip if you are doing this for customers, when you send one out set the options to default.I have tested it on a couple of TVs and it turns out some options are not compatible with some TVs and give a black screen

I've learned to take a picture of it before taking apart so I know where screws go

Fascinating Global Garage. Thanks for uploading the video.

You don't need L & Z for the menu (it's one or the other). You also don't need to remove the Jumper Pak/Expansion Pak. It'll come off with the top lid and stay contained under the lid! Much easier. :)

Should have added the reset option, pretty damn useful if you have an everdrive, saves me the trouble of getting my lazy ass up to reset console! lol

I've done several of these mods myself now but I watched just to see if I could give any input.

You didn't mention that the cartridge slot has longer brass-colored screws and that it just pops off once those are out. Try it! Lift both sides evenly though or you’ll break one of the “wings” that the screws go through.

The reason to pry the heat sink and RF shield from the back is because the thermal pads can rip up the RDRAM chips in the other direction since almost all the legs holding them to the board are on the back side (very odd package that has almost all legs on a single side with no dummies).

So weird that PAL DK64 isn't a banana yellow game pak like it is in North America.

To avoid unwanted input on the game in the background you can use the D-pad without any buttons (after invoking with buttons, of course). Up/Down changes selection, Right will make/enter the selection, and Left will back up one level/cancel.

The mainboard designation is interesting, is NUS a holdover from development days, when it was the Nintendo Ultra Sixty Four?
