Tanja Stadler - Decoding pathogen genomes to inform public health
Показать описание
Pathogen sequencing data contains a fingerprint of past evolutionary and epidemiological processes, and thus offers a unique opportunity to extract the encoded knowledge. Phylodynamic tools provide the means to extract this knowledge. I will outline how our sequencing, modelling, and analysis efforts shed light on the evolution and epidemiology of a range of respiratory viruses.
Tanja Stadler discusses at the end of her talk future core opportunities and open challenges in monitoring pathogens through genomic surveillance and using pathogen genomic information to inform public health policies and responses.
This recording is a part of a series of talks on the critical impact of modelling during early pandemics and in shaping the future of surveillance systems. Our aim? To broaden the modelling landscape to meet the public health challenges we face today. All talks are available in our YouTube playlist!
