Scenic OTIS (2000?) Traction Elevator - 1106 T9 Ave. - GO, BR

A scenic OTIS elevator, in a small offices center. It is an older model, with a glass back facing the intersection of two important avenues of this neighborhood. The name I said in the video, is wrong, it's easy to get confused with the weird naming system used here.

Mainly, this is NOT a Gen2, it is a regular overhead traction system, and I wonder if this is possibly a model from the Otis 2000 lineup, due to the cab design, and the year that it entered service.
Speaking of the design, it is not custom - it's like that by deafult. Much like the fixtures used on the Otis 2000 and the first years of the Otis Gen2, the lighting is not on the ceiling, but rather from a panel in the wall, the difference here is that it's coming from a separate panel on the opposite side of the COP. On the ceiling, the only feature are some diagnonal glass bars covering half of the top surface that don't do anything else other than decoration. The walls all have this pattern with two recessed vertical lines around them. That plate with tbe floor numbers, was added by the owners themselves.
About the fixtures, they're too an older version of the Solution. Some features exclusive to them, are the small call stations, the "OTIS" name on them with the contrasting finish, the small LCD clock on the panel, no tactiles or braille on the floor numbers and the electric eye with the reflective piece across. The later Solution used on the Gen2 is clearly an improved rendition of this, especially the totem type. Of course, made mostly to comply with the new norms of the time.

On the functional aspect, this elevator doesn't run any bad. It's speed is appropriate for the amount of floors, the cab has minimal sudden movements, and the build quality is better and stronger than the later Gen2s that would come later. The walls do have that "steel sheet" feeling, but the elevator still gives off a feeling of being sturdier, mainly the operating panel, doors and handrail. While riding, it is very smooth, slows down nicely, and most importantly, the cab isn't creaky. At most you can hear some few shaft bangs or cracks, but never the "steel bending" creaks that the Gen2 has.
As for conservation, it's very well mantained, the cab is pristine and doesn't have any scratches or dents. This is a very well kept building too, even the basement garage is clean.

This model isn't that hard to find, being a cheaper alternative of it's time. Commonly seen in smaller buildings that only need a functional elevator without all of those more expensive features. I currently know of 2 more of these in this city, another one that is an internal install with a glass back in a home decoration store, and an enclosed one in a smaller outlet mall. Both aren't far from this one, same neighborhood.

Interestingly, this was one of the only two elevators I found that have the plastic cover on the panel. I was expecting to see more of them, and I didn't ride few elevators in this trip to the city. But, no, they don't seem to be all that common in public buildings, at least here. One thing for sure, it's terrible for pressing the concave Otis buttons...
