The love of my life passed away from his complications with cancer. Seeing people glorify what he went through and pretending to experience what he did sickens me.

She's a pathological liar! It's a compulsive disorder, not a coping mechanism. She's even lying about that. I would divorce my partner too if I found out they lied about all of this to everyone. She will keep lying, she can't help it.

As someone with Stage 4 cancer this kind of stuff infuriates me.

I lost my Mum to cancer back in February. She was brilliant, honest, well loved by loads of people, and my best friend. It just proves that life isn't fair :(

I have life shortening cancer and this makes me mad. I've been given 3-10 years.

I think after a certain age blaming your childhood for your shitty behaviour just isn’t excusable anymore. There’s therapy and resources out there but instead some people just use it to excuse their actions.

Their videos are getting beyond cringe now... I'd not heard of this story, so thankyou for bringing it to light for me and some others. Hope you & your other half are keeping well!

I disagree. Marrying an FBI agent is a GREAT strategy for evading the law. They protect their pals, no matter what crimes they commit.

I had a long time friend since we were teenagers who always made up tragic events and health conditions. It was one of those things where we all knew she was lying but went along with it and in true teenage girl fashion, talked about behind her back. The problem was though, she never stopped. She continued talking about the made up tragic events and health conditions she claimed had taken place and inventing new ones. They were such obvious lies and easily proven impossible to have actually occurred, but she still kept bringing them up for attention and sympathy. As 2 of the things she lied about beginning when she was a teenager had actually happened to me in the ensuing years, some really awful things to go through, and I thought surely she would stop claiming these things happened since I hadn't heard her bring them up in a while, but instead she started talking about them incessantly for some reason and adding new details, because we were some form of kindred spirits now due to our "shared tragedies". 30 years and she was still making up stories like a teenage girl. It was very hurtful and too much, and I stopped talking to her about 10 years ago. I'm in my 50s and literally have no friends now, but it's better than that kind of " friend"

Oh this one really sent me through a loop when I first heard about it. She didn’t just lie about cancer, she faked an entire persona and lied about being a victim of DV too. She actually wrote one of my favorite/most important episodes of the show. One could say she’s really, really good at coming up with fiction. She spoke over other writers that had actually survived cancer. She tricked a woman in a mental hospital and called herself Jo, one of the show’s characters. She then stole that woman’s story of abuse both for herself and for the character. A truly bizarre person indeed.

This isn't a coping mechanism. It's straight up lying.

I read somewhere that FD is most common in middle aged men, who go to the hospital to be taken care of by nurses. People with FA will usually inflict actual illness or symptoms upon themselves, like intentionally breaking bones or poisoning themselves. It takes up resources, but it's somewhat understandable when people are lonely and mentally ill. What she's doing though seems more like malingering, she's doing it to gain something and it's not exclusively tied to the sympathy and care of being ill. While she might have liked how they treated her after the knee surgery, I think the biggest factor here was the power it got her. While real victims of SA and those actually battling an illness are suffering, there is some power and influence to gain from being percieved as a victim when you are not-- aka actually ill people are suffering and we therefore treat them differently to help them a little, but people who aren't having those struggles can use that to get ahead. Fakers who call out people for being ableist, like this woman at the workplace, are the most ableist of them all. They see the good that society does, which is so little to begin with, and decide to abuse that.

Only way to put them in their place so they don't lie again is to sue them for everything

Funny thing about telling the truth; you never have to remember what you told anyone or worry that you might get it wrong & contradict yourself. Thank God for Truth!
