How long will this effect last? Say if I want to buy a home in one of these cities in the near future as home values decrease, how long should I wait to get that sweet spot between lower value and a better interest rate? A year or two or longer?

Here in Mexico the rates are 10 to 12%. . And use to be 20%. Latinos dont know about 3, 4, 6 % rates to buy a house.

I plan to eventually buy a house outside of the United States (get a second residency too for political diversification). Real state is still overpriced, even if it does fall some. Guess we'll see how much if falls or not.

Unless we pay cash now, buying with an 8% loan makes no sense.
By 2024, prices may come down, but not enough to overcome the higher
mortgage costs.
