Casually using this at 1 am to remember what motion is for physics homework.

"Motion" and "Position" are relative to the observer. There is no such observable "thing" or "object" that is in perfect stillness. Everything we have been able to observe has been in a constant state of what we call motion. So really, motion does not exist. It is a virtual concept used to identify velocity in layman's terms. As such, for all that we know and all we don't know, it is safe to say that we do not know that motion or perfect stillness is even possible. Because one term defines the other. Yet neither term can be compared to any physical example of the opposite.

We are all moving it seems. We sit upon the earth and we are still "relative" to the earth. But we are still not in a state of stillness because of earth's constantly maintained velocity.

Thoughts?
