Is the “Next Steph Curry” For Real This Time?

It's a matter of when it's going to happen, not if it's going to happen.

Stephen Curry changed the game completely, didn't he? And since then, the league has been looking for his replacement. The truth is that there have been several names of prospects who were compared to Steph during their college careers. But with a shadow as big as Curry's, any comparison seems outrageous, even 12 years after his explosion. Not even for Trae Young, one of the best young guards in the NBA, seems accurate. Because, at least for the moment, he's not that much of a game changer.

But there is a case of a prospect of this draft, who could finally be the right one. Or, at least, he is next on the list of aspiring candidates.

Reed Sheppard is a guard with enormous potential. His college shooting records are even more spectacular than Steph's, and unlike many other prospects who have ended up in the lottery, the franchise Reed has landed with is eager to compete for the Playoffs. But beyond his comparisons... Why would Reed Sheppard falling to third in the draft be considered a steal? What is really the potential of the Rockets' new guard? Let's talk about this...

Cudos to Reed Sheppard, but he is no Steph Curry and no crystal ball can predict if he will become as good as Steph. My bet is that he will be out of the league in less than five years. It seems to me that so far, he has been given a red carpet treatment, in that wherever he showed up, he was allowed to be himself. And, because he is a really good player, so far, he was able to take advantage of that type of treatment. Going forward, if he runs into a situation where he gets limited minutes or he is asked to do something he is not used to, I fear it will be hard for him to adjust to a similar situation, simply because he never faced real adversity. There is actually a real chance that he ends up crashing out. I have seen it many times where so called ''experts' ruin a player's confidence.
This video, however, is yet another case of bandwagoning/clickbaiting. Can any of you so called experts predict a future star, or is talent evaluation just another case of high school cafeteria social dynamics. Basically, when all is said and done, lets tout and follow.

People think Steph's SHOOTING changed the game. He is indeed the greatest shooter ever, but that isn't all he is.

He's also got top 10 all-time handles (being conservative), and he doesn't get nearly enough credit for his conditioning.

Let's just say this guy is a freakish shooter just like Steph. Well, okay... but how is he going to get a shot? Does he have the skill, athleticism, handle, and agility to get a shot off in tight spaces at 6'3"? I'm not seeing it. The guy looks like an underwhelming athlete, and doesn't really have high-tier ball-handling... let alone, all-time ball handling like Steph.

Steph was made in a friggin' lab. It will be a good while before we see the next Steph.
