CEPA first for modi( in 10 years, although cecpa with Mauritius--not big)
Earlier - cancelled bits, avoided fta and not joined rcep
First among other negotiated(aus, gulf, canada, uk)

-for uae, first outside GCC

*Push to bilateral trade(now 59bn dollar -india (2nd largest for uae)and uae(3rd largest for India) ) - aiming for 100bn dollar
*investment(18bn dollar (9th largest) and 11bn dollar is FDI)
*could pave the way for broader FTA with GCC(framework agreement signed in 2004 but no improvements)
*more engagements with west asian quad - MEQ - israel - usa -uae -india
*historical trade links - mesapotamia and indus civilization

Energy - saudi (38MT) and uae(22MT) - half of indias crude import

Labour ties: 3.5 mn indians - 14bn remittances

Leaders - modi and mbz.. crown prince invited for republic day as guest, uae given its highest civilian award to modi during 2019 election, even invited sushma swaraj to OIC
