Earwigs - Not As Ugly As You Thought

Not many people seem to like earwigs, they look aggressive with their big mouthparts and pincers. But despite their ferocious appearance, they're largely vegetarian and their pincers are mainly for wrestling with each other, enacting courtship displays and folding away their amazingly compact wings.

I think my favorite thing about earwigs is that among insects they're relatively compassionate and caring mothers. They'll fastidiously clean their eggs to prevent the growth of fungus or bacteria, and even after their clutch emerges the mothers will care for their young for several instars, until they're hardy enough to fend for themselves. I was always kinda thought they were icky until I learned more about their behavior and lifecycle.
