Ranking EVERY Enchantment In Minecraft

One of the most interesting aspects of minecraft’s tool system are the enchantments. These let you power-up your weapons, tools, armor and more to make them more powerful. Currently there are 39 enchantments in minecraft as of 1.20, however not all of them are great. So Today I thought it would be fun to rank every enchantment in minecraft from the worst to the best! I’ve also decided to put these enchants into a tier list!

Edit: After looking at the comments, yeah I’d probably move riptide up, just under sweeping edge. I still don’t think it’s great but I underrated it. Fire protection still sucks though everyone saying it’s good are insane.

Small error at 22:45 - Protection *does* reduce damage from falling as well, making it combine with feather falling perfectly.

Note with piercing:
-when using tipped arrows, you can pick them up again after it hit its target, meaning that you could shoot yourself with a positive effect and do so infinitely
-it goes through shields (although no mobs spawn with shields)

Insane that you put riptide so low. Free launches with elytra without needing rockets. In the rain, the speed of travel is incredible. Also, if you are doing anything underwater from mining blue ice, hunting guardians, drowned, squids, etc. Or searching for sniffer eggs it's going to make things far faster.

3:50 if you’re wearing elytra you only have 3 armor slots left. 3 pieces of protection IV is not enough to survive falling in a lava ocean. on the other hand, just 2 pieces of fire protection 4 will give you complete immunity to lava.

oh no, you take a little more damage from zombies and skeletons! they’re still barely going to tickle you. who really cares? lava is a much bigger threat. accidents happen. sometimes you fall into lava without having a fire resistance potion up. fire protection makes that a complete non-concern with only 2 armor pieces enchanted with it.

Riptide is literally a top 10 enchant. It is so much better than loyalty. You can make water pools around large bases to traverse quickly, using it into the air and triggering elytra at the same time (or gliding into water then using it) gives you a massive boost into the air, and if it’s raining you can use it while gliding to move so fast the chunks stop loading. Loyalty is also just awful compared to using a bow. The only reason I have ever used a trident on Java is for movement. The other takes are good but man that’s an awful one.

I think this is interesting cause the bedrock combat system almost completely invalidated invalidates smite and bane of arthropods cause you can kill any standard mob with a crit. Also look up bedrock trident killers and impaling actually becomes a lot more valid since anything in the water counts as a "fish" for damage reasons. I'll leave anything else I think of as a reply to this comment, great list and I respect your takes

One massive advantage the fire aspect offers: if you are fighting an illagers patrol and you intentionally let the fire kill the captain, you won't get the bad omen debuff.

Don’t know if anyone has already mentioned this, but one benefit of swift sneak that stands out to me is when it’s combined with soul speed III. When I’m venturing through soul sand valleys and trying to fight off hordes of skeletons and ghasts in one area, having swift sneak combined with soul speed lets me effectively evade arrows and ghast fireballs with a shield always up to ensure I never take damage.
