Hi fellow dog lover!🐶 My dog Billie had so many behavior problems… she was jumping, peeing inappropriately, overly aggressive, pulling on the leash… she was just crazy…🤪 Then I found this one solution that stopped all the problems!🙌 The sad fact was…The training I first tried with my dog was a complete fai...lure.😔 I went through the average cookie-cutter training programs. These programs used outdated and ‘mean’ dominance techniques. It turns out those programs had no qualifications and were developed by complete phonies.😱 So this is what I did to stop my dog’s behavior problems... In a few simple words… I discovered my dog’s hidden intelligence!🧠

Let me explain… In my years as a dog owner…this is the one big lesson I have learned. More intelligent dogs are better behaved.👍 A more intelligent dog takes commands easier…and understands what you need from them. What I found out was… No matter how clever I thought my dog was. I could still unlock my dog’s hidden intelligence quickly and easily!😄 Don’t waste a second longer putting up with your dog's behavior problem! I’ll explain everything you need to know in the link!😁

The Irish Wolfhound Dog breed is the tallest of all dogs. The large, rough-coated Irish wolfhound stands on its toes and not on the pads of its feet. It is a very old breed with a long history in Ireland. The breed was originally developed to hunt wolves, which they did by sight rather than scent.

Although the breed participated in many canine activities throughout history, it became nearly extinct around the middle of the 19th century.

My husband grew up with IW and until we lost our boy in December, we've had them for the last 12 years. They are wonderful with other dogs and kids. Very intuitive and aware of their size. The are the tallest and longest breed, built more like a horse. Mastiffs are they heaviest breed, not Danes. You may get a Dane taller than an IW. Torsion and bloat is not genetic, but due to their deep chest. They are the most loyal and gentle breed. They like other sight hounds, don't need a lot of exercise. A good walk and short run are all they need or want. They are not going to chase a ball or play for hours, 20 mins. of hard play is plenty. I miss my boy😢

I've had two female Wolfhounds in my life since I was born, been the uncle to over 40 of my breeders and assisted in bringing 3 litters into the world. I have never met a breed that can literally crawl inside your heart and soul as this breed can . I remember loosing everyone and can remember sitting on the floor at 3am with one of my girls cradled in my arms, with tears streaming down my face telling my vet, " Please take my house, my cars, just let her live " . Unfortunately anyone who owns one of these breeds learns to hate with every fibre of your body the word Cancer... My world is far more fulfilled having these hazel eyes staring into mine then anything else... Oh a few quick side notes, I have never had any wolfhound even pull on my leeds while walking much less tear off after people or other dogs, the only time I have to be very observant is when walking them in the provincial parks, that is specifically due to wolves, coyotes and deer. A wolfhound is genetically imprinted and does not need any provocation to attack and kill the three mentioned, yes I have seen the switch flip, keep in mind they are sight hounds, although they can smell and hear far greater than any human, eye contact is how they bond and hunt... If you truly want to know the breed inside and out two books are considered the bibles on the breed ( The magnificent Irish Wolfhound by Mary Mcbryde and The Irish Wolfhound by Elizabeth C. Murphy ) If you can get these do, you won't be sorry.... You are very correct about Bloat and if you own this breed do the world a favour, buy a bloat kit . I have two one in the house and the other in the vehicle, they are very easy to learn to use and will save their lives . The only thing you have to remember is not to force the flexible tube down into their lungs and measure the tube so you know the distance into the stomach ( Ask your vet if your afraid to help with this ) . I have used the kit and its saved the life of one of the breeders, you will know in a heart beat when it happens or at least I do, but then again if you ask both my vets they will tell you, they know their anatomy inside and out but I fortunately know the breed in it's entirety.

I had an IW male from pup to adult, till he died at 6.5 yrs old due to cancer. He was a very noble gentleman; loving, loyal, empathetic, headstrong & mischievous. A few corrections:
1. Great Danes aren't the heaviest breed; English Mastiffs easily have that title.
2. "...short nose and Take a good look again at that long nuthin' "short" about it.
3. Bloat isn't genetic; it's more anatomic (deep chest = room for the stomach to rotate around itself) & often can be handler induced (overfeeding and\or shortly after eating).
4. "Everyone should have Definitely not true. They're not Velcro dogs (like Danes, Grayhounds & others); indeed much more independent. This s not the breed for you if that's what you are looking for.

The old original Wolfhounds were war dogs over 2, 000 years ago. Tjose almost went extinct. They were brought back in the middle of the 19th century. The modern IW has little relation to the old one.
