Giricek would be traded to the 76ers the following season in exchange for Kyle Korver. He would hardly get any playing time, and was granted a release to finish the season with the Phoenix Suns. While on the Suns, he was involved in an altercation that resulted in Shaquille O'Neal choking him out to the point of where Giricek passed out before a game. Essentially Shaq was sick of Giricek shooting instead of feeding him down low. Imagine that happened in today's NBA.
At 30, Giricek would not play in the NBA ever again after signing to go back to Europe, first playing for Fenerbahce for 2 years, then a season with Cibona Zagreb.
