Will Satellites Help Us Save or Exploit Earth?

Our long-term survival on this planet depends on advanced satellites keeping us connected and keeping an eye on the Earth from orbit. The unique perspective offered by satellites allows us to track the weather and find hidden freshwater and other crucial resources. These powerful “eyes in the sky” could be the key to saving us from climate change or could help speed up its consumption.

In order to ease the debris we must learn ways to clean up after ourselves. I guess mom was right.

Will they ever get the direction of the transmitted GPS signals right?! They almost always show the device sending the signal to the satellites.
Just imagine how big a mobile phone (or even a pet GPS locator) would have to be and the energy it would consume, to be able to send a signal that far. That signal would have to also be sent back (doubling the measuring time), to get the distance to the device, which is needed for calculating the position.

7:20 GPS only sends phone is passive not sending to the Satellites, the graphic implies this.

Quit showing cartoony exaggerated scale animated videos of LEO. If you had a completely thought out argument you wouldn't need visual disinformation to back up your point. Does anybody monitor the FCC regulatory process to analyze potential orbital issues before they become a fait accompli?

please stop switching cameras. it's distracting and makes it difficult to follow the presentation. just look into the camera as if you're talking to it.

12:08 "As ever, the real challenge in tackling climate change is to put this better understanding to use, the political will to actually change behaviors."

This statement is frightening. "The political will to actually change behaviors" can only mean the use of government force to control people's lives. More threats, more coercion, more penalties for merely choosing what's best for ourselves if it doesn't toe the government line.

There's far too much of this already. We must reduce tyrannical control, not increase it.
