DESCRIPTION: Methionine restriction—best achieved through a plant-based diet—may prove to have a major impact on patients with cancer because unlike normal tissues, many human tumors require the amino acid methionine to grow.

Pancreatic survivor here. Three years and still healthy. I'm one of the lucky 5%. Going vegan has definitely helped. I do eat a lot though. Need to keep my weight up just in case. Thanks for the great vids!

Dr. Greger you should have 270 million subscribers. I love what you do for us, thank you!

As a medical student I find your videos extremely helpful and informing. Most doctors I've come across during my internships are completely oblivious to the various benefits dietary changes might offer.

This is seriously amazing. Thank you for sharing this with us! I always knew plant-based diets (vegan) were good for you, but this gets to the reason why!

Thank you! This kind vegan diet is my number one choice in patients with triple negative breath cancer and cokon cancer. I'm a dietitian and general physician in Maracaibo, Venezuela, South America.

One of the joys in life is to learn and better understand the world around you. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge with others in such a unpretentious manner. You have a real gift for explaining complicated information in an understandable way. Thank you.

Almost fifty years ago now and I just learned about this today from Geoff Palmer, vegan body builder, and ran a search to see what would come up. Thanks Doc 🥦

I am very happy for you. Someone I am very close to has had stage 4 cancer for over a year now. He refuses any of my advice and the nutritionist he saw was no help either. I know there are so many benefits to going vegan especially when it comes to fighting disease. What suggestions do you have to help me get him to see reason?

Would you be open to posting what your diet was like as a cancer patient? What did you eat and how much is "a lot"? Thank you and good luck in remission! :)

I had colon cancer. And I'm trying to do everything in my power to keep it from coming back. I was told to eat among other things, sardines, walnuts, and lentils because they are supposed to be anti-colon cancer foods. Now I see these foods are highest in Methionine. I feel like I'm dammed if I do, and dammed if I don't. What the heck am I supposed to do?

Would like to see list of supplements that have hi methionine, or induce it. Very useful vid, thanks.

Thank you! What about unions or garlic? Do these contain methionine or sulphur compounds that our body convert in methionine?

I'm so happy for what Dr. Eden did for me.

The supplement SAMe is often given for joint issues, anxiety and depression. Those with slow COMT have a harder time clearing neurotransmitters and excess estrogen. Plus supporting this slow COMT they have found to help estrogen shift to a safer excretion pathway? Looking at the 2/4/ and16 hydroxyestrogen ratio, Magnesium and methionine are precursors form COMT. This is a interesting point and side to look at that I will explore more. Thank you for all the work and research you provide. H
