Recovery efforts continue after vehicle drives off Virginia Beach Fishing Pier

A car drove off the end of the 14th Street Fishing Pier and crashed into the water below on Saturday. Police say they're still working to piece together who the driver is and why it happened. 13News Now's Dana Smith spoke with police and witnesses at the scene as first responders worked to recover the car at the bottom of the ocean.

I'll give you a clue from my own experience - when I was stationed there around 2000, I quickly gave up snorkel diving because the water there is so filled with a drifting 'MUCK' from shell decomposition and wave action that when I reached out in two meters of water on a sunny day - I could not see up my arm past my wrist while swimming from the beach. The murkiness of the water is the total opposite of say, Mission Bay or Ocean Beach in San Diego California where the water is clear and settled. This is going to complicate finding debris a lot...

Just a lesson for people going to the beach that if you fall off the pier no one will help you

So, no one has realized they are missing a family member or friend, yet? Maybe tomorrow when they don’t show up work someone will put two and two together. What about security cameras in the area to show possible cars? Surely they don’t want the body to disappear… just get the body. This is looking silly.
