Though this Ask the Expert is focused on Chiari I Malformation in Children, Dr. Brandon Rocque tackles questions regarding the various types of Chiaris including: 0, 1, 1.5, 2 and asymptomatic. Dr. Rocque also addresses when or whether surgery is necessary, the accuracy of MRIs, and whether Chiari can cause speech delay and behavioral issues.

I have a mild case of cerebellar tonsils but my tonsils have been swollen for over a month now. The back of my neck hurts as of late. Once I get my tonsils taken out will this go away and do I have any risks or shoukd I avoid anything. I dont see my ent in over a month and I cant call to ask because they are booked up.
