I would really watch CG to Life body matching video, even if it might take a long time. Seems like a pretty hard job, to match 3D details of 2D footage. It's hard to find anywhere a video of this process.

Great stuff. Reality is now challenged.

Wow! Amazing job stitching all takes together. I would love to see underwater swimming compositing breakdown.
I am interested how did you stabilized the footage, then placed this footage in 3d scene, animating camera shake? And you did rotomation also?
Considering that 2d footage is in 3d space with shakey camera you have something like stabilized 2d footage by scene (3d tracking), then placed 2d plate in 3d space applying shaking camera? So rotomation for sim have done by stabilized 2d plate? How flexible was process of rotomation matching with 2d footage? And then you approved camera animation with rotomation and did bubbles and air sim and also scene rendering?
Very interesting to know.

Any reason why they chose blue screen instead of green. If it's because of blue sky and blue ocean replacement in post but can't we create that in green screen too? .. If anybody has the answer.. Pls let me know

WHY would they lie on their backs AS the crate slammed into the water!?! IF the parachute was open they could've jumped off as they approached the surface yes?

As impressive as the staging, blocking and the coreography is, it's a shame how poor the lighting is. It gives away the illusion of "being there". Both characters are constantly lit, evidencing that they're in a soundstage under a 100% controlled environment. Contrary to Tom Cruise's jump scene in Fallout or the great airplane rescue scene in Iron Man 3, this... simply doesn't work. It feels like a PS5 cut scene, no a film.

why do they even bother filming anything anymore lol it's always completely replaced

It just doesn't look real at any point, mostly because of the lighting. It's unfortunate when so much hard work by so many talented people is wasted.

Everything is great except the lighting.

A lot of time and work to create a completely unreal result. There isn't a sigle moment you can believe this scene is real. Lights are totally flat for the entire sequence and the compositing looks made by some kid at his first day of work.
Dneg why? This i not a budget problem
