Diabetes occurs when your blood sugar (also called blood glucose) is higher than it should be. You need a certain amount of glucose because it's the main source of your body's energy. But too much glucose can do life-threatening damage to your body.

Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose from food get into your cells to be used for energy. When your pancreas isn't producing the right amounts of insulin, you become "diabetic."

There are two types of diabetes, and usually just called "Type 1" and "Type 2."

What Causes Type 1?

Type 1 diabetes is caused by a malfunctioning immune system, which is your body's system for fighting infection. When you have type 1, your immune systems attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. Medical research seems to indicate type 1 diabetes is caused by genes and environmental factors, such as viruses.

Type 1 diabetes was once known as juvenile diabetes because it usually struck children due of a hereditary predisposition.

What Causes Type 2 Diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes occurs due to a number of factors, including genes, lifestyle choices, and diet.

Type 2 diabetes usually begins with a condition known as insulin resistance, as your muscles, liver, and cells do not use insulin as they should.

Sedentary people who are overweight or obese are prime candidates for type 2. Lack of exercise and extra weight can contribute to insulin resistance.

As with type 1 diabetes, your family history may make you more likely to develop type 2 because it tends to run in families. Genetic factors also can increase the risk of type 2 diabetes by increasing a person’s tendency to become overweight or obese.

Type 2 can be slowed or reversed. Stop eating carbs and do intermittent fasting.

Type 1 diabetes is often caused by giving your child casein which is found in cows milk. So products like Similac, baby formula. Casein is a protein similar to the protein that makes up your pancreas. When a child is given cows milk, lactose intolerance found in most humans means that they will have trouble digesting the milk. It causes inflammation which leads to a syndrome called leaky gut. This means that the intestines, which were designed to keep out whole proteins from entering your blood, are damaged and they can’t keep out these whole proteins as they should. Casein is now entering the blood of these babies and their immune system attacks the protein. As it should. Whole proteins in blood are foreign invaders. Because casein protein is so similar to the protein that makes up the pancreas, the body learns to attack the pancreas. Thats what causes type 1 diabetes. It’s an absolute nightmare to think that because of a lack of information, we’re ruining our children’s lives
