The 500 Shillings Banknote from Tanzania was issued in 2003 by the Bank of Tanzania. The banknote has been graded by PMG as Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality).
Tanzania is an East African country known for its vast wilderness areas. They include the plains of Serengeti National Park, a safari mecca populated by the “big five” game (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino), and Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Africa’s highest mountain.
The 500 Shillings banknote is printed in Green and blue on multicolor underprint measuring 130 x 63 mm.
The obverse of the banknote depicts the front facing Cape buffalo at right centre, arms at upper left centre. The reverse features University of Daressalam and Aesculap's rod at centre, sailing boats in background.
PMG (Paper Money Guaranty) was founded in 2005 as a fully independent third-party paper money grading service.
