Worked on a standby oil boat. We carried engineers from rig to rig and brought stuff out to the rigs for them...The first day it got rough and for 5 days I was so seasick I lost track of time...Capt. was so understanding, and my only duty was to take the rope off the rigs and stand by buoys. On the 6th day, it slicked out and I came back to life. I cooked breakfast and Capt. Frank Davis told the engineers if they cherished their arms and hands let me eat first...LOL...so I fully understand Sasha. I really missed her fishing outfits the next day.

What I liked the most of that trip, is that you guys did not give up and went back out there and even with some bad weather you got fresh fish to eat. Tight lines

Years ago on my honeymoon, I convinced my new bride to go out deep sea fishing. It was a small boat and the seas were pretty rough, so just about everyone in our fishing party was getting seasick. Since the bite was slow and we were stuck on the water for several hours, we decided to make small talk and someone asked what I did for a living.

“I’m in the Navy” I sheepishly admitted (after barfing my guts out over the side several times…)

Moral of the story - don’t ever be ashamed to take some Dramamine before heading out to sea, ‘cause even Navy vets occasionally blow chunks when conditions are rough!

When going ocean fishing I always make and take along a couple of loaves of Irish Soda Bread. It'll settle your stomach and save the day. Easy to make too.

The Cajun way of ‘half shell’, is after you fillet it in half, run your electric knife between the skin & meat. Leave it together & grill then once it’s done, you can slide the meat right away from all the charred/burnt skin & scales. I remember my great grandmother doing like that without an electric knife with ease. I mess it up without an electric knife.
