Herausforderung Corona – Expert:innen zur Zukunft der Globalisierung | Wolfgang Ischinger, former ambassador and strong advocate of the transatlantic relations, argues that “we” – above all North America and the European Union – need to strengthen “the West” again in order to counteract the already preexisting negative trends in international relations, strategy and security, accelerated by the onslaught of the pandemic.

In order to avoid the “jungle growing back” – Ischinger here refers to a quote by American neoconservative intellectual Robert Kagan – the EU needs to reunite with its transatlantic partners and take the initiative to lead the global community into a new chapter of collective financial, economic and general security.
