I have about 35 years of DIY auto mechanics, had a lot of cars that I had modified myself and installed race parts including Porsches, Subarus, Mustangs, Corvettes, etc. About a year ago I bought a 2016 MK7 GTi for my son wich I had installed a few race parts and done all the maintenance at home. All I can say that this little car is the most uncomfortable and more tight car that I had worked in all my life. But I love it!!!

Always take the tray out. It will make your life so much easier. Also, when you go to reassemble the new TMD, it works well to put the outlet coupler back on the new TMD and then install the new peice back into the turbo, then put the charge pipe in the coupler and then that will hold it in place while you fidget with putting the bolts back in place. Its like an extra hand holding it for you.

Been checking vids on your channel for a while now, recently got a mk7 with a 1.8 tsi (US/CD) (i live in the netherlands where 1.2tsi, 1.4tsi and 2.0tsi are the standard). I get many positive reactions, especially when I keep up with GTI's in my "regular golf", however nobody seems to know anything about these 1.8tsi engines as these engines are very rarily seen in the EU. Your channel helps understanding certain aspects, thanks for that!

I did intake, inlet, and muffler delete today. Of course, I forgot my towel under the inlet for oil drip, so i tried to pick it out with a little hook tool, but i dropped it and I couldn't find it. So i jacked up the car to go under and find it. Took about 30 min to find as it was hidden above the LCA. So i got the towel out by removing the intake pipe (should have done this to begin with), but then forgot to reconnect the vacuum hose on the underside of the intake pipe 😂 what a day! One small thing caused a cascade of oops!

The benefits of doing this are minimal. But it definitely makes a difference in pull. The turbo is allowed to breath a bit better. Put a smile on my face.

Before and after sound clip would have been good but otherwise great video.

Just wanna jump in here... if anyone is expecting big changes to the sound of your turbo with this thing, don't. It allows a subtle high-pitched hiss to break through a bit more than stock, but that's it. Also, of course there are no performance gains either. Very subtle mod.

I fitted this with a inlet elbow and drop in filter. And Has a good bit of sound and not over the top. Also, this can be fitted with the battery in place 👍

Thanks for the video. Looks like alot of work for not much gains IMO. Also for a DIY type mod I think this poses too much risk for boost leaks touching the charge pipe and turbo muffler.... I bought a CTS delete but I am going to sell it after watching this lol.

Please could you let me know if the oem Turbo Muffler has a O ring? I had a Racingline turbo muffler delete which came with a oring on it for a year and I can’t remember if I needed an o ring for the original. I reinstalled the original but I just wanted to double check before I start having leaks. Thanks so much.

Hello. Currently trying to install this on cold engine and the new inlet with gasket seams too tight to fit in there.. was afraid it would stuck half way in. I had put it in the freezer overnight to try to shrink it and will oil and heat the turbo flange, i will try again tomorrow. Any tip?

I have the 034 turbo muffler delete and I'm using one of the taps to run my boost gauge. I've noticed I'm not pulling any vacuum. Is this due to the location of the tap?
