Are you sure you installed that square nut properly? Had it been turned flat to the face of the part it would not have had tension on one side of the bolt with the corner of the nut digging into the aluminum housing.

1. The nut wasn’t oriented properly therefore wasn’t properly tightened.
2. You’re wearing the wrong type of footwear. A tall heel will help keep the stilts in place, from my experience just trying to get used to the crazy things.

May I also recommend wearing knee pads? In case you do fall, you're supposed to fall fwd. Knee pads will be invaluable in that emergency.

nice tutorial, I feel more conformable wearing stilts. I recommend wearing a helmet and soft gloves.

The number one is get real Durastilts 100% american made not those cheap ones those start make noise like you're tortilla factory machine and normally bolts lose quickly you can trip easily straps are very cheap can be lose and lose your balance, 12 years doing drywall the only thing replace in my durastilts straps, shoes normally burn out after hours working take the time to check the bolts .
