I downloaded a plugin and it had a IR with it, I ignored that IR for soo many days because I didn’t know what it was, and thought the plugin is shitty, but then somehow landed on this video at midnight when I’m tucked in my bed, its been 3 hours and I have no stopped playing. Thank you so much for this.

I just bought the Two Notes Torpedo Captor X mostly for the attenuation, not really knowing exactly what the IR features were about. This was an absolutely perfect explanation for me! Well done and thanks!

Me just watching this to even figure out what the file even is, I’ve tried googling and couldn’t get any files, you came in clutch with these IRs! Also I have the same vst, I used it on a dubstep track to give the growls a bit of a different tonality and it was dope!

I think kids with practice amps could benefit from a set of headphones that have a built-in impulse loader. That way, they can play their guitars quietly and not get a headache.

Been playing guitar for 5 years now. I thought i had finally gotten over everything daunting about the instrument. Then I tried recording. Theres too many things to learn where do i even find the time to learn all this

Anyone play with a clean tone anymore?

the NadIR loader is slightly better because of the 'resonance' button which gives it more umf

Very informative! Maybe I can ask a question? I bought a bundle of IR's from Ownhammer. What I don't understand is the different maps and names of these IR's. I am kinda lost here. They talk about different Hz (41.000 etc.) and a lot of stuff I don't really understand. It is overwhelming but I know that IR's are a good thing :-)

So what is different between cab sim and IR?

What is the reason for this as opposed to using a full amp simulator?
I've been heavily thnking about buying a dual rectifer but I dont play in a band and I live in an attached house so I cant be too noisy. Would using a Cab IR with a real mesa amp be worth it or should I just use a full amp simulator?

Hey man thx for the video! Just wondering what the difference is between using an all tube head with IRs going completely digital and using plug ins. I’m still new to this so correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t IR’s defeat the purpose of using a tube head? Especially if you’re silent recording and bypassing an actual physical cab

Thanks, i'm just starting to learn about this concept. What am i missing though. I mean isn't this 'IR' thing just another name for sampled presets? whats the difference. that concept has been around forever so i'm not really seeing any difference.

I haven’t been happy with my mic’d amp sound coming out of the house. Could IRs be used somehow with an amp to replace a mic?
For reference purposes, my amp is a Laney Ironheart.

Just a quick question, do you use your IR pack in Helix or Fractal? Or are the Lancaster IRs designed to work within a DAW?
