As far as I can tell, this mission of delivering Discoveries to the Atlas is unending. However, I do enjoy the idea that it gives purpose to scanning; it is a good source of extra nanites; it makes sense thematically that you would feed this information to the Atlas. All round a simple but good idea.

You can pick up a lot of the atlas language by stepping on the glowing balls following this quest. Seems like there are several more of the balls and you seem to learn the words much faster.

I probably cant do any of this since at the time I did the atlas mission(before the companion update) I rejected the atlas thinking it was a bad ending thing

Some news. The update is called Evolution! Ign leaked it a while back and I don't think anyone noticed.

Wait i got shot with nogstalgia! This is what was the end if the very first atlas campaign back during the release of nms, what that story was(ultra simple actually) was you needes to collect 10 atlas stones(red spheres) and give them back to the atlas at the end of the campaign and the prize was: a full new system to go to, sadly i never managed to reach it before it got removed from the game. It's actually kinda crazy that they brought it back after all these years, actually something that makes me shed a tear🥲
